Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a primordial investigation procedure in patients with swallowing problems. In this procedure a flexible endoscope (not more than 4mm diameter) passes through the nose. Meanwhile the patient has to swallow various volumes and consistencies.

This examination offers an anatomical and functional overview of the laryngopharynx whilst swallowing.

Videofluoroscopy is radiological imaging of the oropharyngeal swallow. This can provide supplementary information in specific pathologies.
